Your Body has the Power to Heal itself-- Use your Untapped Energy for Healing. (Part-2)

Natural Healing—an overview
In my last hub, I tried to elaborate on the need for ‘natural healing’ and the amazing results it has shown over the years, helping people to get rid of those chronic ailments for which the conventional mode of treatment has showed no satisfactory cure. By now you must have got a fair idea as to how our body mechanism gets disrupted due to high stress levels and excruciating mental agony caused by the situations we are confronted with, during the course of our journey through life. We are a part of the cosmos as a whole and as such our body is meant to be in tune with the elements of this cosmos which means that any ‘deviation’ from the pre-designed elemental structure causes our body to malfunction, as a result of which we suffer pain; the greater the degree of ‘deviation’, the nearer we bring ourselves to the doomsday. All diseases are a direct consequence of disharmony of energy levels in our body system. One of the most effective ways of healing any specific body dis-ease is through ‘Reiki’.
Reiki—its meaning and spectrum
Reiki is a Japanese term meaning ‘universal life
force’ (‘re’ stands for universal and ‘ki’ means life force). Reiki is the name
given to ‘healing energy’ present in nature. We use this energy all the time
without even knowing that we are actually making use of it. For instance if our
knee gets hurt, we immediately touch the bruise or wound with our hand. Although,
we simply describe such an act as a natural body reflex, the fact is that the
placing of hand on the hurt knee is a result of a natural impulse of the body
to channelize the energy to an area which needs healing the most. This is what
our body is (amazingly) programmed to do and most people aren’t even aware of this
massive resource of energy lying inside their own bodies. The only problem in
such cases is that the hurt area gets energy only up to the extent of 5% to 10%
which can, however, be increased up to 90-95% only if the ‘initiation’ is done.
The term ‘initiation’ simply refers to opening the ‘energy centers’ or ‘chakras’
in our body so that their capacity to channelize energy increases manifold. As
discussed in previous hub, there are seven major Chakras and two minor Chakras
(in hands and feet) in the body. When we channel Reiki, the path that energy
follows is from ‘Universe’ to Crown Chakra, then to heart Chakra and from there
to our hands, and from our hands into the area which needs healing. Although,
it is advisable to get attuned by a Guru or Master before becoming a
practitioner, yet I’ve seen that some people are born / natural healers and do
not require an expert’s intervention. After all there is nothing technical
involved here; it is only an art of transmitting energy and some people are inherently blessed with these powers.
Reiki—the way it heals
The healing process may appear to be a bit complex as there is no road map success here. It’s not possible for any healer to predict the extent to which he / she can heal the patient as it’s not up to the healer but up to the ‘energy’ itself to decide the course of action. The energy is purely spiritual and knows exactly ‘how to heal’ and ‘how much to heal’. The best part about Reiki is that it can be given at any time and at any place; it does not need concentration or focus. We can give Reiki to a suffering person with one hand while making tea with the other. Some teachers hold that ‘healing’ does not necessarily have to involve ‘emotional factor’ or compassion but I, personally believe that the results of Reiki are amazingly magnified if the healer feels compassion for the patient and sends energy through his heart, which, even otherwise, is the route which energy takes to reach the afflicted body part of the patient.
The question which most people ask is…What is the simplest way to know that we are capable to ‘heal’ others?
Well, the simplest and the most common way to know your abilities is to see if you keep having a sudden rush of blood through your body or a throbbing or tingling sensation in the hands. If you frequently experience your hands getting warm and turning reddish in color, you definitely (assuming that you don’t have any medical conditions) have a sudden gush of energy flowing into your hands which if used for ‘healing’ can really work wonders. It is advisable to make use of the energy which flows naturally into your hands and eagerly awaits for being used on a suffering person. When the warmth in our hands falls down to the level of our body temperature, it is an indication that the flow of energy has stopped. We should keep our hands on the body part only till the energy lasts in our hands. Reiki does not have to be given for more than 3-5 minutes on each body part. It can be done in repeat sessions over a period of few days until the signs of pain start diminishing. It does not have to be in continuity and can be done in breaks which means that for a particular body part, Reiki can be continued for a period of 6-7 days or even more, depending on the extent of damage suffered by that body part and also on the time which you can devote each day for the healing process. It does not prescribe any hard and fast rules for healing; if you get a phone call while you’re in the mid of the healing process, you can discontinue for a while, attend to your phone call and then return to the healing process. Sounds convenient? Of course it is. We can give Reiki to ourselves too; all we need to do is to keep our hands on the body part which needs to be revitalized or rejuvenated. It works well with headaches, muscle pains and various body pains.
Reiki—the way to do it
1. Although Reiki does not need the healer to close his eyes, yet it is good to close eyes in the beginning of the process so as to clear the head from all the wanted thoughts. A good way to do this is by taking deep breaths a few times.
2. As Reiki flows from the Chakras in our palms, we just need to keep the palms on the ‘area’ that needs healing. There is no need to worry about the placement of hands on the afflicted area. You can keep your hands gently on the ‘area’ in any manner you like, having prime concern for the comfort of the person whom you intend healing.
3. After placing your hands on the ‘area’, visualize energy flowing from your hands and seeping deep into the body of the suffering person. Your job, as a healer, is to transmit the healing energy into the body of your client / patient and that’s it; the rest is up to the ‘energy’ to decide its own course for healing. You really cannot do anything beyond acting as a conduit. The results largely depend on the willingness of the patient to get healed, his belief in such healing techniques and his own ‘karma’ as well. Reiki does not have any harmful effects; it makes use of energy which has its roots in cosmic energy and as such can only be expected to do good to all living beings on this planet.

Hi Anjali,
I really love this Hub! I agree that the results of Reiki are amazingly magnified if the healer feels compassion for the patient and sends energy through his heart. I always thought Reiki was for healing others. I find it intriguing and exciting to know you can heal yourself. I often feel a strong tingling sensation in my hands so hopefully I can make a healing difference for myself and others.
Bless You,
Jim
Great article, Anjali, Reiki is big love of my life, since I recieved first initiation, nothing is same any more, this way of healing opened another worlds for me. I combine many other healing techiques with Reiki - it is so simple and always working for the highest good...
Well, I never needed to do any visualisation of healing energy flowing from my palms - energy was flowing out without any additional effort, the same is with majority of my Reiki students. Only few of them needed aditional push in the very beginning, like little visualisation.
Intention to heal is the strongest key which helps to open energetic channals.
Initiation is even more then openning the energy channals and chackras - is deep healing procedure, which is worth as many healing treatments.
Thumbs up!
Thanks anjali for writing about your love of healing. I found it truly interesting and you explained it so well with such clarity of words. The videos were great too!
Its very nice to see my friend again. I feel after all, since you have known me, I got what God has given me... I want to say if i have disrespected you in the past in being nosy in your life I am truely sorry. But it is good to be back...I feel I have been moved to write. I live in a new city, a new state, a new house, and a new love. I will not make the same mistakes. speaking of which I have to go to bed. ;) Trust me I have learned from my mistakes....take care.
I have always heard that the body somehow has a way of healing itself considering the immune systema and our anti bodies as well as our white blood. You definitely caught my attention with this hub. Great information.
This is a fascinating Hub. I intend to study this further as the health benefits are obvious to me after reading your report. Thank you very much for providing something useful to everyone.
Hey Anjali...as we all say..Hail the blessed one..U are a blessed human being...n into serving and studying such an art makes it even more divine...Im no expert but definately share the same compassion that so many of us have in common.I aint a filthy rich man or i would have offered you Gurudakshina for learning this art even deeply...but i so so so dearly want to be a part of the healers...not for money or for fame but to heal my own karmas n some good deed is always gud....I am into meditation and self healing for three years now...medication is a strict no no ..vegetarianism is a yes yes...CAN I BE UR STUDENT plz...lolz

Anjali: This is another very informative article on healing; watched the videos and had to also share them with my sister. I mentioned in one of Tatjanas' hubs that years ago when I didn't know anything about Reiki, someone sent me distance Reiki healing without telling me, and on that evening, I had a dream of coins with unusual shapes, and one coin was presented to me. I described the dream and symbols in the spiritual forum we were members of. Turns out it was her sending me Reiki and I was receptive, this was a wonderful confirmation for both of us.
Wouldn't it be wonderful for the world's consciousness if one of the requirements in school would be to learn how to self heal, who knows maybe one day the world will do this as part of the norm.
