The Little Grasshopper
75
Once upon a time in the heart of a city,
Lived a little grasshopper, full of self pity;
All day long she hopped from one leaf to the other,
In an attempt to fly, her tiny wings could only flutter.
Having no clue how things could change,
She decided to seek help from a sage;
So right she jumped in to a boat,
In the unknown waters, she set herself afloat.
Far away in the woods lived a hermit,
Who spent his days meditating under the chestnut;
Tired and travel stained, she reached his abode,
Showed reverence to him and humbly bowed.
With eyes closed and body emitting a golden halo,
The hermit had set the whole place aglow;
Overawed by the effect, she landed herself at his feet,
And greeted him with her cute little tweet.
The hermit opened his eyes as he knew he had a visitor,
Having read her mind, he smiled at the grasshopper;
Out he stretched his hand and she hopped on,
As he touched her wings, she felt strong and her
fears were gone.
Magic worked and little bug could finally fly,
Filled with ecstasy she heard herself cry;
Up she soared high in the trees and vast sky,
All she hated was to bid him a goodbye.
Seeing her all over him, the hermit said what he knew,
“You are my little snuggle bug and I can see you through,
Know your purpose! You are born to fly,
But wherever you go, we’ll share the same sky.”

very cool Anj.
What a beautiful story--keep up the good work...Try submitting them to a publisher...They are good enough!
This poem is so cute and touching and meaningful, thanks for this - it is beautiful.
my-success-guru said all what was needed to say, I can only agree with him!
Thumbs up.
I was busy, Anjali - that is the reason I did not have time to read too many Hubs of the others.
And your poem is magical, after I read it, one bussiness problem I had, started to solve - and I know that reading your poem helped.
Thanks a lot.
cute animal.thanks for share
Great poem anjalichugh, I like the sentiment attatched to it and the story told.
I know that you are well asleep. Slumbering to a way off peacful destination. But I reread, your comments on restless spirit, and I was taken back. I began thinking about my life and what I need to do to have peace. I have decided to write a book, like yourself,and tell the story i have been wanting to tell my whole life. I think its time. I would like to thank you for being a good hub friend, when I needed it. I would like to send a shot out to your writings as well...you are a wonderful writer. When I wake up I will seek advice on writing this dream....and taking it seriously. But you are right about me....there are things that are not fulled in my life, and the demons are beckoning me....so there will never be peace in my soul...until I either beat them or do what must be done. Dont be a stranger...I still have a funny stories in me as well. "and if I dont see you, good morning, good afternoon, and good night."
Dear Anjali,
Believe you me..U never stop amazing me with ur abundance of knowledge and wisdom that reflects ur upbringing and I'd not say pedigree 2 coz that is only used in context of animals like dogs and horses.But sad as it may seem the bottom line is people are more concernced about the pedigree of their pet dogs than the upbringing of their children...Thank God Ur not one of them!!!
Hat's of 2 ur wisdom..Keep educating us coz I live on borrowed time and thirst for knowledge..irrespective of where it comes from...Most welcome from dear friends like you Anjali!!!
God Bless U & Take Care!!!

I like grasshoppers. I used to play with them at the farm when I was little. I love the poem as well. More power.
anjalichugh,
"But wherever you go, we’ll share the same sky.” - What a beautiful line! I like your poem. Thanks for sharing it here at hubpages.
Really nice one, Anjali - profound but so simply expressed...
This was a beautiful story, wonderfully written in poetry.
You certainly have a gift! Loved your grasshopper and the hermit. What magic you create! Thank you!
Now that is what I call a poetic inspiration. Simply brilliant anjali. You have an amazing gift of writing poems which is simply awesome. keep up the good work.
Very good poem well done.

Lovely.
we just need to look at the hermit inside us to be set free.too often we wait to meet the right hermit or even to realize that we need a hermit. life is fulll of people who say if only i had met the right hermit where as the real hermit is right there inside you waiting to just be looked at to give you your wings.
Good to see a person who has found her own hermit right inside her.
good as usual anj

Hi Anjali,
Wow! This is a beautiful story! And it demonstrates the magic in you. Often we don't know our true potential but all we need is just a little guidance and we can learn to fly just like the little grasshopper. I love how the little grasshopper hopped on the hermits hand. It is such a cute little grasshopper- the cutest I've ever seen!
“You are my little snuggle bug and I can see you through,
Know your purpose! You are born to fly,
But wherever you go, we’ll share the same sky.”
Now it is your turn Anjali to know your purpose because you were born to fly!
Bless You,
Jim
